What Causes Pain In The Ear Along With Nose Bleeding?

I have been having problems on the left side of my face starting several months ago with mild ear pain, then a diagnosis of blepharitis, and today I had several spontaneous nose bleeds. Never had one of those before so was a bit alarmed. No other symptoms with the nose bleed. I plan to see my Physician on Monday but am wondering if everything could be related. I am an otherwise very healthy 68 year old. Only med I take is Rapaflo.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The nose bleed can be related to a many conditions such as trauma or dry climate. Usually there is nothing to be worried. I suggest keeping the lining of the nose moist. Especially during colder months when air is dry, apply a thin, light coating of petroleum jelly or antibiotic ointment (Neosporin) with a cotton swab three times a day. I also suggest to drink liquids and use a humidifier at home.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
