What Causes Pain In The Chest And Left Arm While Exercising?

Hi, I am preparing to run a marathon, recently had echo stress test done, came out normal after running 13 mins or so on stage 6 treadmill. I do have some chest pain and left arm pain, I dont feel that pain doing anyother exercise, only during running. I play racketball on a regular basis and dont have any symptoms during play time.

Hello,

If your echo stress test was negative for ischemia I should not worry. The probability of having a cardiac event with a negative stress test is les than 1%. If symptoms are present when you run and not present when you do other activities it could be muscle skeletal pain. If other activities evoque chest pain visit your cardiologist for further testing.

Best regards,
Dr. Fernando Bátiz
