What Causes Pain In The Calf Muscles At Night?

Hi. I have a displaced fibula fracture which has been placed in a splint. My calf muscles clench at night and three weeks in I heard a pop while waking up to the spasm pain. Is that my muscle breaking my bone?(if there is such thing) I have been taking no pain medication to be more aware of what my body can handle.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I understand your concern.

The pain you feel in your legs at night are due to muscle spasms. It won't cause any problem to the splint.

Take pain medications and magnesium/calcium supplement.

If no improvement, consult further with orthopedic surgeon to see if anything wrong is going on with your operated fibula.

Hope this helps.
