Everytime a drink alcohol my left arm always starts hurting instantly, and it would go on even after my last sip, it would go on for hours even days sometimes. It doesnt feel like a joint pain, more like a muscle pain/soreness. Is there a treatment? What is this pain?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I read your message and understood your concern.

Alcohol has many adverse effects and heavy drinkers face many health troubles related to it. One of them is neuropathy.

Alcohol damages your nerve functions and causes numbness, pain or weird sensations in limbs.

First, you need to quit alcohol. Avoiding the trigger of pain is the best choice of first line treatment.
Secondly, you need to contact a doctor and do further examinations which will discover the exact damages the alcohol has caused in your body.

Blood tests, neurological examinations and other tests may be needed.

Vitamin supplements can help your nerves recover and good diet and exercise will do best. Type and dosage of these supplements will be given by your doctor.

Hope this was helpful.
