What Causes Pain In Ribs After Breast Surgery To Remove Fibroadenoma?

good morning sirs, i am 23 years old, 54kg, 162cm. i was operated last 03 march 2014 because of the palpable mass at my left breast and the result was fibroadenoma, it s just a minor operation. Then last 23 march 2015, while on traning i suffered on and off fever, chill though it s very hot, experiencing pain at my right ribs and difficulty in breathing. When i was examined at the hospital the findings was i had a pneumonia, and my white cells become 18 that the doctor said that it s not normal. Then the the doctor s prescription was ceforexime and flumocil for my pneumonia. But when i was evacuated at the hospital they told me to stop taking the medicine. Now, my problem is the doctors examine the image of my xray and compared it to my previous xray. then they told me that maybe it s a cyst that forms circle at my right ribs. and that is the cause why my right ribs is painful. then they told me that i should undergo CTscan. my question is that is it possible that it s a cyst that cause pain at my right ribs? or maybe it is different one?

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello,

A white blood cell count of 18,000 per cubic mm is abnormal and a differential count is also required to determine which white blood cell component is raised. Fibroadenoma is breast is a benign lesion and it can be removed surgically. In case a cyst is detected in ribs, it can lead to pressure symptoms and pain. I suggest you to consult your primary healthcare provider with all investigations for management.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
