What Causes Pain In Neck Radiating To Shoulders Post Spinal Fusion?

Yes, I had cervical spinal fusion almost seven years ago and have had episodes of pain in my neck that is radiating to my shoulders and along the jawline. I contacted my neurosurgeon, who has scheduled an epidural steroid injection to be placed just below the fusion. This was determined following an MRI that showed a problem area. Would it be the nerves involved causing the jaw pain, shoulder pain, headaches and at times a rigid neck? Thanking you in advance

The symptoms described do suggest irritation or inflammation of nerve. Epidural steroid injections are definitely beneficial as they reduce the inflammation and show a dramatic improvement in symptoms.
