What Causes Pain In Lower Lumbar Region?

Hello, I m a 28 year old female nurse, I work 50 hours a week, I have a toddler and I m active on the family farm. I m 20 pounds overweight, non smoker. In the evening I have a grinding sensation in my lower lumvar region - it really feelw like soft tissue and bone rolling over and against each other. No history of falls, fractures or other back injuries. I don t do a lot of lifting at work and I wear high quality shoes. I have periodic sciatica that resolves in a few days with NSAIDS, ice and stretching. No imaging or other diagnostics. Nights are miserable. Ideas?

Hi
Thank you for asking HCM
I have gone through your query. Sciatica means the pain from back radiating to legs due to nerve compression from lumbar disc herniation. If you have that it can be from it. Grinding sensation can also come from sacroiliac joint arthritis or dysfunction. In such case local injection of corticosteroids will make you better. A physical examination by an orthopedician is well appreciated to rule out the condition. You will need to take X ray of lumbosacral spine and MRI in case of positive signs. Muscle relaxants like cyclobenzaprine , NSAIDs like aceclofenac and neurotropic drugs will be helpful. Physiotherapy and muscle strengthening exercises will make you better.
Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
