What Causes Pain In Lower Jaw With Numbness Along The Mandible?
Hi I was wondering if taking oral budesonide could cause lower jaw numbness. My husband takes oral capsules twice a day for EOE, and now out of nowhere has developed pain in his ear and lower jaw. He has seen both MD and Dentist to make sure no abscessed tooth or ear infection. He is currently being tx with antibiotic ear drops and may need a rct. No definite abscess on xray, so I m not sure why this sudden pain in lower jaw with numbness along the lower mandible. He is also taking clindimycin to tx symptoms for tooth #19, which may be possible fracture?
Hi. Pain and numbness in lower jaw could be caused by a tooth abscess or a bone infection. In case the abscess has been ruled out by a maxillofacial surgeon, the post probable reason seems to be acute osteomyelitis a bone infection. This causes both pain and numbness with fever, generalised malaise and at times pys discharge. It is also not visible on xray, so needs a good clinical examination. Your surgeon might put you on iv antibiotics for same. Also bein on steroids might have made him predisposed to these infections.
