What Causes Pain In Elbow After A Fall?

My 5 year fell on his elbow holding a football this afternoon. He is not straightening it out. He will a bit and cry saying it hurts like a cramp. He can lift his arm over his head and bend his arm as if showing his muscles. My husband thinks it's just bruised and sprain. How can I be sure. He is sleeping now.

Hi,

Thanks for writing to health care magic.
I can understand your concern.

You can only be sure after physical examination by your doctor. Please consult your doctor once. You should consult your doctor at the earliest for a complete physical examination. Your doctor may order certain investigations based on the physical examination findings. He may ask for a X ray if he suspects of any fracture. Further management depends on the diagnosis made. So consult your doctor for a examination to identify the cause.
Continue to ask further queries as required.
Hope this helps.
Take care.
