What Causes Pain In Chest And Back With Severe Cough?
My daughter has been coughing for about two weeks and was diagnosed with an ear infection. She was prescribed amoxicillin but has not been consistently taking it. The cough has not gone away and shes had a lot of chest and back pain. She just indicated the last cough produced a pop and she is really hurting now. Shes also a type 1 diabetic.
Dear- I reviewed your question in detail and will give you my medical advise. First of all, It is important to take the antibiotics in a regular way because if she doesn't , the infection will continue and can get worse. The chest and back pain if from the infection, most likely a pleuritis or inflammation of the membrane that covers the lungs. It can radiates to the back and can get worse when takes a deep breath due to the lungs expansion. She should continue with the antibiotics and take an anti-inflammatory as ibuprofen to relieve the pain. I hope that my advise has been helpful Dr.Sara
