What Causes Pain In And Above The Hip?

hey, I m 17 years old I m having a pain on my right side right above my hip bone kinda and it travels a few inches up kinda into my side. it hurts and starts feeling like I m beginning to be stabbed when i sit or hit it when i move certain ways. It comes and goes. The pain was in the middle of my stomach last night and is progressively worsening in a way. when i try to receive gas when sitting it seems as if it worsens.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have pain in and above the hip . Well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to may reasons like , arthritis , osteoarthritis , bursitis , dislocation ,hip labral tear , inguinal hernia , sprains and strains , tendinitis , sciatica and osteoporosis . I would suggest you to consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination . Doctor will check movements of hip joint , order CT scan or MRI . Doctor may prescribe muscle relaxant , anti inflammatory , vitamin supplement , recommend certain exercises , methotrexate and physical therapy . For now take proper rest , apply warm compresses to hip joint and take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain .Doctor may also recommend hip joint surgery in severe damage case .
