What Causes Pain In Abdomen And Back After Intake Of Trimethoprin For UTI?
hi i went to the drs on tuesday with UTI symptoms, he didnt do any tests just gave me a 3 day course of trimethoprin which finished yesterday. im now left with pain in both sides of my back and in my abdomen. it hurts more when i move. should i go to a&e or will i be wasting their time. thank you Sue
I think you should do a urine analysis and uroculture. Doing 3 days of Bactrim doesn't help, you have to finish the entire course of antibiotics 5-7 days.
This reoccurrence of symptoms seems like recurrent infection and doing an uroculture is advisable to check what bacteria is causing it and what antibiotics can be used to treat it definitively.
You can continue to take anti-inflammatory drugs such as Advil or acetaminophen for pain relief. Continue to take cranberry juice or tea.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
