What Causes Pain From The Hip To The Legs?

Pain in the hip/pelvic bones going down into legs. Difficulty sleeping because of pain in these bones. No fever or other discomfort. No pain with urination. Walk regularly and no recent overexertion. Almost feels like childbirth contractions of the bones.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Thank you for your query.

Based on your symptoms I would like to rule out
Sciatica and arthritis of the hip joints.

I recommend :
-. A physician /orthopedic consult
-x rays of the hip joint
-an MRI of the pelvis and lumbar spine if required.
-avoid any activity that worsens the symptoms or triggers it.
-avoid jerky movements and impact to the lower back.
-avoid sitting or standing for too long (half hour at a stretch)
-weight loss (if overweight). However do not attempt any new exercise regimen without consulting your doctor.
-blood tests (complete blood count, Erythrocyte sedimentation rate, rheumatoid factor, calcium and phosphate levels, vitamin d3 levels)
-ultrasound of the pelvis to check for any organ enlargement that could be compressing on the nerves.

Based on the above I can help you further.
Hope this helps.
Please let me know if I can help you with any further questions.
I find this answer helpful
