What Causes Pain From Calf Area Radiating Towards Knee After A Foot Injury?

I have a new bruise from an injury to the top of my foot, happened about 1 week ago. About 48 hours after the injury, I started having pain going up my leg, caff muscle. It feels like the pain in my leg is moving upwards. Started in my lower caff and now hurts all the way to behind my knee. Could it be a blood clot or something else to be alarmed about?
