What Causes Pain Behind Breastbone Along With Belching?

Hello, Ive been having some chest discomfort for around two weeks. It is located just behind my breastbone. It is a sharp pain that lasts for a second or two.I often feel like belching about 10 minutes after experiencing the pain. It can come on at any time of day and is unrelated to physical activity or eating. I do not have any breathing problems. I can pin point the pain with my finger. Sometimes it is in exactly the same place and sometimes it moves, but it is always around the breastbone. I have an appointment with my doctor in 10 days. What could this be? Thank you.

Hi, the possible causes can be refulx esophagitis I.e.heartburn or pleurisy or chostochondritis or muscle pain etc, if you are having belching too then reflux esophagitis might be causing this.
I will give some advises to get rid off this,
Avoid oily and spicy foods.
Avoid full meal rather take small frequent meals.
Avoid rest following 2 hours of taking meal, brisk walking would be good but not fast.
Take antacids with antireflux agents whenever required.
