What Causes Pain And Tenderness On The Scalp?

I am a 41 year old woman with Hashimoto s thyroiditis (very recently diagnoses). I started experiencing massive hair loss about 6 months ago and my scalp has become increasingly tender and a little painful. It is not always tender and painful, and I notice that when it is, it often feels warm as well (inflamed?). Is this a symptom of my thyroid condition? (I just started hormone supplements less than two weeks ago.) Thank you.

I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.

Scalp tenderness may be due to local cause like scalp infection, abscess or trauma.
Other causes may be migraine, tension type headache or temporal arteritis or herpes zoster.
Are you having headache, vomiting, nausea, photophobia, phonophobia, sleep disturbances. If yes, then certain neurologica issues may be present and you should do hea CT scan or MRI.
Use of local anesthesia is a short lasting procedure.
If required in cases of tension type headache botox injection can be given.
