General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

This can be an urgent thing hence you should visit A & E.
- You may apply ice on it
- Take an anti-inflammatory with painkiller properties like Ibuprofen if it suits you
- Take a PPI also like Omeprazole
- Apply some bandage in such a way that the knee is rested well, do not move the knee joint

Further investigations like MRI, tests of blood and clinical evaluation by a doctor, preferably an orthopedic surgeon can help to know the exact diagnosis and thus allow a specific treatment as per the cause found

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
