What Causes Pain And Swelling In The Vagina After Unprotected Intercourse?

On Monday, October 3rd I had intercourse without the use of a condom. On October 6th, I noticed that when I go to the restroom it is painful and sore/raw when I wipe or touch. I ve also had to change my underwear more times than often because my discharges are so heavy. The lips of my vagina are swollen too, I m just confused and need to know what is going on and my vagina is very irritated. What could it be? Thanks, Chloe

Hi Chloe,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
The reason why you could be having discharge, pain and swelling in the vaginal area could be due to bacterial vaginosis.
Kindly do the following to overcome the same.
1. Wash the region with mild antiseptic solution like Savlon twice daily.
2. After drying, apply antibiotic medication Clindamycin Cream twice daily.
3. Take a course of oral antibiotic medication Tablet.Metronidazole.
4. Use vaginal pH balancing solution 'v wash' regularly.
5. Wear loose fitting undergarments to avoid friction and provide proper ventilation.
6. Abstain from sexual activities till the symptoms subside completely.
Maintain good personal hygiene.
