What Causes Pain And Swelling In The Body?

I have swelling in my body and pain with it. I ve had it for 16 months and been to several doctors. Nothing is showing up in my bloodwork except for inflammation. No medication is working and the doctors are baffled. Prednisone is the only medication my body responds to. I am on 5mg. right now, but am trying to get off it. I just started my 3 try at an injection, Actemra. so far it isn t working. I ve been on it now for a month and it has been close to my most painful month. I don t know where else to go.

Hi,

You should go for a complete checkup including renal, hepatic and cardiac workup.

Generalized swelling or what we call anasarca in medical terms can be due to some liver issue like cirrhosis, cardiac issues like heart failure, renal issues like nephrotic syndrome. An overall increase in body weight can also be due to some hormonal issues like hypothyroidism, Cushing syndrome.

I would suggest you to go through a thorough check-up to rule out all possible causes.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
