Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a swimmer and my shoulder has been hurting for 3 years. I have taken many breaks and I took 3 months of physical therapy. It hurts every time I rotate my arm. I have had 2 X-Rays and an MRI and the results have come back clear. I have looked and asked around on the internet and I think I might have tendinitis. Is that a possibility?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM I have gone through your query. Rotator cufftendinitis is a possibility in your condition. But usually it will give signs in MRI. You can recheck with another orthopedician. Any possibility of neuropathy also should be assessed by neurological examination and nerve conduction study if needed. Do you have any wasting of muscles around shoulder? In case of rotator cuff tendinitis if physiotherapy is not helping then corticosteroid injections locally will give relief. If that is also not helping then surgical correction is a good option as you are a swimmer. Arthroscopic minimally invasive surgery is also available in many hospitals. Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
