Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 3 1/2 year old grandson is visiting and he said that his throat hurts a little bit . I looked at it with a flashlight and there are small red spots all over the back of his throat. Some have blood in the center. Like they were scratched. He said he just had it today and I gave him a Popsicle. He is usually pretty active but is laying on the couch. He doesn; t seem to have a fever. Any suggestions or ideas?
Understanding your concern. As per your query your grandson have symptoms of pain and red spots in the throat which seems to be due to upper respiratory tract infection, strep and tonsilitis.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to
- Do warm saline gargles 2-3 times a day.
- Take steam inhalation twice a day.
- Maintain proper hygiene.
- Maintain proper hygiene and drink plenty of fluids.
Consult pediatrician once for proper diagnosis. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics amoxiclav at least for 10 days along with decongestant. Doctor may order test like swab test , blood test to rule out condition like strep throat.
