What Causes Pain And Poor Mobility In The Left Arm?
For two weeks I am having much pain and decreased range of motion in my left arm. Bicep feels hard. Nothing gives relief. I ve tried Advil, alleve and Motrin. Should I be concerned. I think it s muscular? But it s seems to be getting worse. I can barely move my arm. I made an appt with an orthopedist but they cannot see me for a week. Should I go to an ER. Although, I don t think it s life threatening. Just very painful.
Hello Dear. I think you have a condition called frozen shoulder. It may happen after an injury or overuse or from a disease such as diabetes. The tissues around the joint stiffen, scar tissue forms, and shoulder movements become difficult and painful.
Treatment for frozen shoulder usually starts with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and application of heat to the affected area, followed by gentle stretching. Ice and medicines (including corticosteroid injections) may also be used to reduce pain and swelling. And physical therapy can help increase your range of motion. A frozen shoulder can take a year or more to get better.
If treatment is not helping, surgery is sometimes done to loosen some of the tight tissues around the shoulder.
Anyways its not any emergency. You can wait for your appointment with the doctor.
Hope i have answered your question. Feel free to contact me if you have any more questions. I ll be glad to help you. All the best With warm regards Dr Sanjay Kini
