What Causes Pain And Nausea After Pressing A Lump On The Shoulder Blade?

I had a hot stone massage today. I have been having a lot of pain down my right arm, neck and shoulder blade. I had hoped the massage would loosen it up and ease the pain. She found 2 knots on my shoulder blade that when applying minimal pressure I became nauseated. She found what she called the trigger point in my neck. When she applied minimal pressure there, it felt like my fingers were shooting fire, She said the medium nerve is being constrained. The right side of my neck is swollen as well as my right arm. She suggested a chiropractor and medical massage. What should I do to fix this? Thank you

Physical Therapist or Physiotherapist 's  Response
Hello,

As this pain sounds to me of the cervical nerve root entrapment. Doing all hot stone massage won't be helping much.

I will advise you to first use a cervical soft collar. Stabilize the spine first. Next do an MRI, to see which nerve roots are getting trapped. Once figured out, every nerve has its own myotomes and dermatomes. Based on the involvement of the dermatomes and myotomes the pain will be radiating in nature. Shoulder blade pain is due to Trapezitis.

A competitive physiotherapist should help to a great extent with therapeutic ultrasound therapy, MFR, IASTM, TENS therapy and Exercises.

In my clinical practice of over 12 years, most cervical spine nerve entrapment is helped better with exercise regimen which helps them to avoid pain on longer runs and recurrence as well.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
