What Causes Pain And Muscles Spasms On The Left Thigh?

Dr, Rynne, I have this upper left thigh pain that feels like a constant Charlie horse and it s painful especially when getting up after sitting for a while. Also when I m laying doing and when I try to lift my left leg also painfully. But once I m straighten up and stretch by arching my body backward, the pain seems to go away and I can walk normally.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I would like to ask you to do some tests:
1. Electromyography
2. X-Ray of the left thigh (to rule out additional bone issues)
3. Blood test including sodium, potassium, calcium level.
4. Fasting Blood sugar level.

For now, it is ok. Let's see the results.
Meanwhile
Eat foods high in potassium can help prevent muscle cramps
For pain, Ibuprofen can be taken
For spasm, Carisoprodol can be taken.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dipan Samanta, General & Family Physician
