What Causes Pain And Heat In Perineum?

Hi, I been having a pain and heat in my Perineum for 5 months now after having a sexual relation. I had different analysis and after a semen test the doctor pointed that I have a bacterial prostate ( gram positive staphylococcus) and prescribed me with Bactrim for 2 month. I don t feel any other prostate sympathy, however still the pain exist especially when sitting. I m completing 42 days on this treatment. How effective is Bactrim on this bacteria? Is it also save for 2 month duration or longer? Is there other ways to relief this pain? Thanks.. Mo

General & Family Physician 's  Response
You are experiencing a prostate infection. The prostate is a gland at the base of the penis and can get infected with painful results. The usual treatment is Bactrim for 2 months but even then it may not completely resolve the pain or infection. You may need a change in antibiotic to Cipro and take it fro 2-4 months before you get results. So I recommend that you return to your doctor and get re-examined and started on Cipro for an additional 2-4 months
