General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You seem to have symptoms of knee instability (knee goes out) and in this case, an MRI of the knee is needed. A meniscal tear can be the cause of the knee locking up and this and other possible damages in the knee should be ruled out with the MRI.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
