What Causes Pain And Burning Sensation During Urination?

Once in a while when I pee it burns and it hurts. I find myself having to stay in the bathroom way longer when this happens. It is not a regular thing at all as it happens at random times. I am an 18 year old male and not sexually active so what could cause this? A UTI?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have pain and burning sensation during urination. Most common is Urinary tract infection. Benign prostatic hyperplasia is enlargement of prostrate gland. This condition is common in elderly males . Stones in the kidney, bladder or ureter , also infection in kidney or ureter may cause burning or pain even bleeding while urinating .Other uncommon kidney and Urinary tract problem including tumor. So you should visit a urologist, he would give you a proper diagnose & treat accordingly. Doctor may order urine examination . Presence of Pus cells , tissue and red blood cell will suggest infection. Antibiotics will be needed. Drinking ample amount of fluid also helps. For now take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain .
