What Causes Pain And Burning Sensation Around Knee Cap?

I fell while walking and injured my left knee. It is not healing. I have chronic pain along with an intermittent sensation of goosebumps on my left thigh. I also have a burn sensation all around the knee cap area. I have full extension and I am able to bend my leg as if there was no injury. In addition, there seems to be a free floating bump on top of my knee cap that I m thinking may have been a chip. Suggestions welcome. Thank you.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hello,
i have studied your case and It seems to me that you might have injured your knee cartilage or ligament. Loose body can be felt like bump. I would suggest you to get x ray and MRI of the knee joint to confirm the diagnosis. If there is any ligament injury than you will need arthroscopic surgery to repair the ligament. if there is meniscus damage than it can be treated with partial menisectomy.
Loose body can also be removed through small incision.
Till that time you get all these investigations you should apply ice and compression bandage and knee brace.
I hope these steps will be helpful for you. Let me know if there is any other followup questions.
