What Causes Outbreak Of Rashes Along With High Fever?
my husband has a rash on his sides that has been coming and going, it is raised like a dermatitis rash, I was thinking it may be an allergic reaction to peanuts since he s been eating a lot of peanut butter and when he was a child he had allergy testing with reactions to peanuts, but the last 2 months it has been coming and going along with high fevers lasting days...I m starting to worry there is something more going on
Hello and welcome to HCM, Development of rash with high fever is suggestive of viral infection rather than allergic reaction. Allergy can lead to development of rash but fever is unlikely to be associated with allergy. Various viral infections are known to cause rash with fever, thus, consultation with doctor is necessary. Most of the viral infections causing rash are infectious so contact with other people may lead to transmission of infection. Thus, contact with other people should be avoided to prevent transmission of infection. In the meanwhile, before you consult your doctor, you may start with paracetamol to control the fever. Fever leads to dehydration, thus, hydration should be maintained by taking enough fluids and nutrition should also be maintained by taking nutritious food.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
