What Causes Oral Thrush After Taking Penicillin?

I have been taking penicillin for an upcoming root canal and I have developed thrush on my tongue. I have had this before so I know what it is . Is there something I can do to cure this without another prescription for mouth wash? and should i continue taking the penicillin or stop. I don't have an infection, the dentist just wanted to be cautious.

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

First of all if you do not have infection then taking antibiotics is not a must..
Premedication is done if you have Infection or any other medical condition that can cause Infection..
Even.if you still want to take premedication then you can take it for just 3 days prior to root canal treatment.

For thrush you can suck Clotrimazole lozenges and take plenty of Probiotics like Yogurt and garlic..
If Thrush does not get better then you will have to gargle with antifungal mouthwash like Nystatin .

Hope this information helps .

Regards .
