What Causes Occasional Palpitations And Dizziness On Physical Activity?

54 year old male. Non smoker. 6 2 220#. Sometimes (but not all the time) I get about half way up 1 flight of stairs, and feel like m going to black out, heart races, short of breath. Other times I go up and down the stairs several times and have no problem at all. Same when I go for a walk, sometimes feel like I m going to faint after just half a block and other times walk briskly for an hour and have no problem at all. Is this anything?

Hi welcome to HCM.
Palpitations in your case has to be assessed carefully through a baseline ecg and 24 holter ecg for accurate assessment of the palpitations.A screening 2 dimensional echo can help to rule out organic heart lesions.Drugs like beta blockers can help to control the palpitations.Electrophysiological studies can help to locate the ectopic aberrant focus if any.Radiofrequency ablation can help to offer permanent cure.Consult your cardiologist for further care.
Thank you.
