What Causes Numbness, Pain And Tingling In Thighs And Hips?

I have had sudden pain in both hips, starting with my right hip, and it sometimes woke me up at night. Now I have a burning/tingling feeling in the front of my left thigh. It feels normal sometimes but sometimes out of the blue it feels like it is on fire. It is also numb. I can scratch my leg with my fingernails and not feel it very much. Kind of like when your leg falls asleep but more of a burning than a tingling and it s painful sometimes.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and welcome.

I cannot be sure of the cause but I am sure it has to do with the blood supply in the region. The possible causes could be a nutrient deficiency causing poor health of blood vessels (e.g. vitamin B12 deficiency), nerve entrapment syndrome, irregularities in blood coagulation profile, etc.

I would recommend a visit to an orthopedician who would go about an elaborate evaluation of the skeletal structure in the region, and if all is well will recommend you to visit a vascular surgeon who should be able to sort the issue out.

Best wishes.
