Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
When my sister sits down sometimes can t get back up. She said she feels like her legs have forgotten what to do. She is 69 and has COPD. She says she fells strange when this happens . This started happening 2 weeks ago. Between episodes she walks normally.
As she has numbness in legs, i will recommend to undergo a neuromuscular assessment, since her age is also 69 so some degenerative changes can be expected in the spine. Also, this can be related to the lumbar disc degenerative changes and post assessment an MRI might be of need. With simple medication and physical therapy the symptoms can be controlled and also, she will be helped with the set of exercises for the COPD and numbness of the legs too.
In my clinical practice, patients respond well to a combination of medicine and physical therapy.
For detailed suggestion/queries/inputs/rehabilitation plan - contact me and i will happy to help you.
