HI, thanks for using healthcare magic
Neuropathy refers to abnormal function of the nerves. It can be temporary or permanent and there are different possible causes.
Though
carpal tunnel syndrome can cause symptoms in the hands, it does not affect arms or feet.
Other possible causes of neuropathy are: (1) low levels of vitamin b12 or folate
(2)diabetes
(3)trauma to the nerves- the MRI would have shown if there is any nerve trauma
(4)abnormal levels of vitamin b6
(5)thyroid disease
(6)MS, stroke
(7)liver or kidney disease
(8)exposure to toxins
(9)infection such as shingles
(10)autoimmune diseases such as lupus or rheumatoid arthritis
Your blood tests should include thyroid levels, liver and kidney function,
complete blood count, vitamin b12/folate/vitamin b6 levels, diabetes screen, autoimmune screen.
You may need to see a
neurologist for assessment.
There are medications that help with neuropathy eg
amitriptyline,
nortriptyline, cymbalta, tegretol, gabapentin, lyrica
I hope this helps
