What Causes Numb Hands And Fingers With Extreme Muscle Cramps?

I am 35 yr old female. I do drink plenty of water. I sleep on my right side 95% of the time. Occasionally I wake up with my hand asleep . Today my fingers are sleeping and I have a lot of muscle cramps in my hand, and some in my forearm and shoulder. I grasp anything but I can type. I wonder if something may be pinched in my neck/shoulder area?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Pinch or compression of a nerve is a potential cause of the symptoms that you are experiencing but to determine if this is the case, you would need to have imaging (x rays) of the neck, shoulders and elbows to see if there are any problems.

Your GP can arrange this for you.

Physiotherapy can be helpful to treat this and this can also be arranged by your doctor.

I hope this helps
