What Causes Nose Bleeds?

my mother is approximately 7 years post-liver transplant, which was undertaken due to alcohol related cirrhosis. She has not had an alcoholic drink since. She is now experiencing nose bleeds and this could be liver related, but I wonder if there is a problem with the liver in that it is failing, or is it more likely that there are other treatable problems at work, such as mediciation toxins or alike? She takes tacrolimus daily, as well as calcium and acid reflux tablets. thank you for any advice you can give.

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Her symptoms could be related to high blood pressure or a coagulation disorder.

For this reason, I would recommend to closely monitor her blood pressure values frequently during the day.

If her blood pressure values are normal, I would recommend performing coagulation tests.

Consulting with an ENT specialist for a physical evaluation of her nose nostrils is necessary too.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
