What Causes Nose Bleeds Post Sinusitis Surgery?

Hi I have constant sinusitis and I had surgery. After the surgery I have had a sinus infection. I feel after 4 years I maybe finally healed. Just recently after using a neti pot for over two months I started having a mixture of mucus and blood dripping out of my nose. When I cleared it up and blow my nose I felt great. Can you please tell me what you think the nose bleeds and blood in mucus may be from. Thank you

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that blood and mucous dipping from nose 4 years after sinus surgery seems to be due to recurrence of sinus infection and due to it there seems to be inflammation of sinus lining leading to excess formation of mucous and bleeding from inflamed mucosa..
I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like PNS view x ray or MRI scan can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..

You can be advised a course of antibiotics, anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen, decongestants like Pseudoephadrine, do saline nasal irrigation, steam inhalation and use a humidifier in your room..
You can also be advised decongestant nasal sprays containing Xylometazoline or Oxymetazoline..
Avoid spicy and chilled foods..
Do warm compresses around nostrils..
