What Causes Non-cardiac, Sharp Pain In The Chest Area?
Occasionally I will feel a very sharp pain like a needle was stuck into my chest or lung area. It may be anywhereover the entire chest but very localized. My cardioligist says it is not heart related. I had open heart ( 4 way bypass ) 20 years ago. I would appreciate your input. Sincerely L M" Luke "Lucas
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern... Sharp pain in chest of non cardiac origin is mostly due to gastrointestinal problems such as Hyper-acidity, peptic ulcer, GERD(gastric reflux into esophagus), indigestion etc. However pain could also be due to some muscle pull, problem in lungs etc. These problem are aggravated by spicy foods, heavy diet, etc. Pain occurs at lower part of chest mainly in centre or right part especially after taking meals. In some cases pain may be relieved by taking food. You are advised to consult a gastroenterologist at first. Your cardiologist have previously ruled-out any heart related problem.
Refer to a gastroenterologist Hope this information helps
