What Causes Nightmares While On Trazadone?
My father was started on Trazadone 50 mg to help him sleep at night but I noticed he has alot of dreams while on it and has only been on it for 1 week. He is 89 years of age who had a stroke 9 years ago . He was initially on Remeron for 9 years but it does not seem to be helping him. should I attempt to decrease his dose to 25 mg to see if he does not feel so sedated?

Trazadone is somewhat sedative medicine use for reduce brain activity.But it is unusual to have dreams as a side effect. if he is having some drug overdose he may develop some confusion or dizziness instead of dreams.
(150 mg orally per day is the usual drug dose for a patient)
My opinions are,
he may not respond or poorly responded to Trazadone
or
he may need some dose increment after seen by a physician.
So better to consult your physician before doing anything as patient has to be assess thoroughly before dose adgesment.
Remember to work carefully with antipsychotic drugs like Trazadone.
