What Causes Nightmares And Anxiety While On Remeron?

I have been taking remeron 30mg. for two years, sleep through the night, but have vivid dreams. Had to increase to 45mg. due to increasing depression. Now I have vivd nightmares which leave me with anxiety, and unwillingness to even get out of bed. Depression remains unchecked. Any suggestions?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi & Welcome to HCM.
I can understand your concern.
Incomplete data like age, gender, any other medications taken.

The given symptoms are due to the side effects of Rameron.
Rameron (Mirtazapine) is commonly used to treat major depression.
The common side effects include drowsiness, dizziness, strange dreams,
vision changes, dry mouth, constipation, increased appetite, or weight gain.

Since you have started experiencing vivid dreams and axiety, I would advise you to consult your treating doctor to review the prescribed medication and to use an effective alternative but a safer medication like SSRI (Fluoxetine or Paroxetine) for your problem.

Hope this answers your query.
