What Causes Neck Stiffness After An Injury?

Hi, I slipped on some short stairs and landed face first on my boyfriend s foot a little over a week ago. The shoulder pain is completely gone but my neck is still a bit stiff and hurts if I move it the wrong way or too quickly. How long should I wait before being concerned?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hi, Welcome to healhcaremagic. After going through your query I concluded that you may be having muscular pain in the neck. Treatment of it is rest and analgesics (diclofenac three times a day after meals). Muscle relaxant such as thiocolchicoside can be added . Vitamin B-complex and Vitamin C supplementation can used to promote healing. However you can get x ray done to exclude fracture. You can discuss with your treating Doctor about it.I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query. Take care.
