My partner has been suffering from major neck pain and sever headaches. Following an MRI scan it has revealed some nerve damage in his neck, however, this is all we have been told. The pain and headaches are debilitating and cause nausea and vomiting, flashes in front of his eyes as if he has looked at a bright light. The symptoms do also worsen when stressed.
I can understand your concern. According to MRI report, nerve damage in neck has occurred. It can be due to cervical spondylosis which means multiple level cervical disc herniation, cervical spondylolisthesis, osteoporosis and vertebral collapse causing spinal cord damage. Rare chances are that it might be due to some mass lesion in vertebral canal causing nerve and cord damage.
According to history of symptoms, neck pain with headache can be caused by migraine ( Headache is hemispheric, more pain when in stress or bright light), meningitis ( fever along with neck rigidity occurs), compression at foramen magnum ( severe radiating pain in both upper limbs) along with above mentioned causes.
My advise to you is consult neurologist for proper evaluation of pain and any signs of nerve damage. Avoid those factors which increase pain and take bed rest.
Thanks. Hope it will help you. Take care.
