What Causes Neck Pain And Headache While Treating Prostatitis?

Hi Dr. Rynne, Yesterday midday I started having neck pain on the back left side and it hasn t gone away. I didn t sleep on it wrong or do anything to cause my neck to hurt. Additionally I have had a slight headache and it hurts when I swallow (same side as neck pain). I have been taking an antibiotic for the past 10 days for prostatitis. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

In my opinion the neck pain and headache are not related to the use of antibiotics. The symptoms can be related to a pinched nerve. I recommend using anti-inflammatory medication for the pain such as Ibuprofen three times a day. Also use Voltaren gel for local application. Heat compresses can also be helpful.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi,
