What Causes Nausea While Suffering From Sinusitis And Fluid In The Ears?

I have been diagnosed with sinus infection and fluid in the ears. My ears have been stopped up for 2 weeks. I thought it was the antibiotic that made me nausea but have finished taken it and still have nausea spells. Is it due from the fluid and ears still stopped up?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Nausea may be due to the secretions that run in the back of the throat as you have sinusitis. Also, the fluid in the ears may affect you to feel more dizzy and nauseous. You may use Beconase spray twice a day in the nostrils to help reduce inflammation with sinusitis and also you may take Metoclopramide 10 mg every 8 hours for 3-4 days to help with nausea.

Try to eat and drink small amounts of food and water to avoid nausea and throwing up. If you are not better or you have any worsening please see your doctor.

I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General and Family Physician
