What Causes Nausea, Cramping And Diarrhoea?

I believe I came down with a form of stomach virus. No vomiting but a lot of nausea and diarrhea. It s day three and I m having some cramping in my small intestine, seems to be in the middle of my abdomine and some heartburn. I m wondering if this is normal?

Hi,

I can understand your concern.

After going through your question there is possibility of stomach and intestinal infection (bacterial or viral) which is responsible for diarrhoea, nausea, abdominal cramps.

I will advise you
1) Take plenty of water with electrolytes to maintain adequate hydration.
2) Keep taking liquid to soft diet like banana, curd rise.
4) Avoid spicy, oily food
5) Symptomatic treatment like antacids, antiemetics, antispasmodic may help in relieving nausea, heart burn, abdominal cramps .
6) If loose motions are severe there may be need for antibiotics after consultation with your doctor.

Depending up on your clinical examination and severity of symptoms there may be need for blood tests like CBC, Kidney & Liver function test, urine, stool examination and if required ultrasound of abdomen.

Hope this may help you, if so do vote.
