Hi,

Nausea and vomiting during menstrual bleeding can be caused by a variety of factors. One common cause is the release of prostaglandins, which are hormone-like substances that cause the uterus to contract and shed its lining during menstruation. These contractions can also affect the digestive tract, causing nausea and vomiting. In addition, some women may experience gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhea, constipation, or bloating during their menstrual period.

Severe menstrual cramps that lead to fainting and injury may be a sign of a condition called dysmenorrhea, which refers to painful menstrual periods. Dysmenorrhea can be caused by several factors such as endometriosis, uterine fibroids, pelvic inflammatory disease, or ovarian cysts. These conditions can also affect fertility and may require medical treatment.

It is important to see a doctor if you are experiencing severe menstrual symptoms that are affecting your daily activities or causing injury. Your doctor may recommend pain relief medication or hormonal therapies to manage your symptoms, and may also perform further tests to determine the underlying cause of your symptoms.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
