What Causes Nausea And Fatigue Along With Chronic Cough?

My 14 yr old daughter came down with nausea last Friday night. She was very fatigued all day Saturday and Sunday with nausea, some coughing. No noticeable fever. Is this flu and how long is she contagious? She is coughing more now but feels better. I m trying to decide if she should go to school tomorrow, where flu has hit students hard.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It can be viral flu infection or acidity problem. History should be taken regarding that, and physical examination needs to be done.

A decongestant should be prescribed, if congestion present. For nausea, Ondansetron tablet can also be prescribed.

If a cough troublesome her, then Dextromethorphan containing syrup can be prescribed. Consult a pediatrician for examination and accordingly get the prescription.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Parth Goswami
