What Causes Nausea And Confusion After A Head Injury?

my daughter-in-law just slipped in bathroom and hit the back of her head. It kinda knocked her out for a few seconds and when she came to, she was confused for a few minutes and felt nauseous. She seems better now, but was wondering if she needs to go to emergency room or just watch her. Also, I ve always heard not to let someone go to sleep that hits their head, but just read online that it s ok to go to sleep. What do you think?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Dear
These symptoms are quite common in case of head injuries.Imagine our brain floating in a pool of fluid(csf),in a very compact structure (our skull).Hence any sudden movement, or jerk or trauma leads to the symptoms we experience, nausea, giddiness, transient memory loss are quite common.
However we should be more concerned for the major symptoms like loss of consciousness, vomiting, convulsion(fits).we usually advise emergency consultation and observation for a minimum of 48 hours for any symptoms or change in vital signs.
hope this is helpful. do write for further query.
