What Causes Nausea And Abdominal Pain In A Child?

10 yr son Nausea and cramping followed by 1 incident of vomiting and fever 4 days ago. Normal bowel movements. Next day symptoms gradually settled to feeling normal that night and being very active. Good appetite. Next morning another episode of pain and nausea followed by vomiting. No fever. Then symptoms eased. Ate reasonable dinner. This morning more pain and nausea. Pain has been around belly button area. Initially sore to touch but then settling down again and not sore to touch. No fever today although reduced appetite. Bowel movement this morning slightly softer than normal. Pain scale only a 4 or 5. Should I be suspicious of appendicitis?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
hello there,
The cyclical nature of symptoms suggest that it may be appendicitis or some other abdominal pathology that occurs whenever a particular segment of the intestine is active and pushes food forward. At the very least an ultrasound abdomen should be done to evaluate any abnormality.
Hope this helps,
