What Causes Nausea And Abdominal Discomfort While On Metosartan?
I am 50 yrs old i was initially prescribed nebistar SA for my hypertension bp was 170/110 but that tablet created many abdominal problems hence the tablet was changed to Met XL 25 the bp used to be 140/80 now recently i.e. a month ago i had to undergo surgery for hydrocele hence during pre operative check up the bp was found 170/110 by one physician and hence he prescribed me metosartan 50 but that tablet is now creating abdominal disorders such as food nausea, constant amoebiasis and hence i feel discomfort for the whole day lastly the bp measured was 150/90 shall i continue to take the said tablet or change it because i am not able to concentrate on my work

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have nausea and abdominal discomfort while on Metosartan which seems to be either infection or inflammation in the gastrointestinal tract. It could be due to disturbed electrolyte imbalance in body and due to underlying systemic pathology.Sometimes side effects of certain medicine can also cause such symptoms as you also mention in query( Metosartan ) . I would suggest you to start with proton pump inhibitors and antacids such as Pantoprazole along with domperidone. You should take oral rehydration solution for maintaining the hydration and electrolyte balance of the body. Avoid intake of large foods and try to prefer small and frequent meals. You should consult gastroenterologist once and get complete blood investigations done along with ultrasound . Start treatment after proper diagnosis. Take plain and soft food and avoid hot, sharp and spicy food substances.
